Joshbro Communications



On November 14, 2011 the Mumbai Mirror carried a rather unusual ad (shown above). It was from an ad agency called Joshbro Communications; this agency wants to recruit people.  At first glance it appears to be an ad from O&M; the ad gives a fairly detailed map showing how to reach O&M but wants job seekers to send their applications to Joshbro instead. I wondered if Joshbro’s office was located somewhere close to O&M’s office, I checked their site and found this was not the case. I found this ad bizarre, why mention O&M? How can this agency compare itself to O&M? The ad undoubtedly succeeded in drawing attention but it was of the wrong kind. I wonder why the agency did not give their own address or at least could have mentioned their website which it did not do; is the agency not proud of itself? When I checked Joshbro’s website I found that some of the work done by them for their clients were pretty good. Joshbro perhaps wanted to present a recruitment ad that would rate high on creativity but to my mind the ad proves to be rather immature and misleading.  I would invite readers to read the contents give their reactions.

Pushpinder – Pushing for higher market share

The Servo 4T – Pushpinder TV commercial has been on television for quite some time now. It shows a young man pushing his motorcycle and is being made fun of by everyone who sees him; he has even been given a nickname – Pushpinder, because he is always seen pushing his motorcycle. To my mind the approach taken for creating this campaign is very different from those of its competitors. The primary function of any lubricant is to reduce friction between moving parts, thus reduce wear and tear, and also prevent corrosion; this enables the machinery to work efficiently for a long time. The message communicated in all advertisements for lubricants is essentially this but the manner in which it is communicated differs from brand to brand. The Servo 4T – Pushpinder TV commercial also conveys essentially the same message but adds another aspect, that being, if a person were to use inferior lubricants, he would not only face hardship (pushing the bike) but also humiliation (people making fun),

MAGGI 2- Minute Mein Khushiyan

The Maggi Noodles campaign – “Me and Meri MAGGI 2- Minute Mein Khushiyan” featuring Amitabh Bachchan celebrates 25 years of Maggi Noodles in India. I have a few comments to make but before I do that let us briefly check out its history. I happened to witness the launch of Maggi 2 Minute Noodles (M2MN) at in Bombay and Calcutta a quarter century ago; it had created a sensation. Noodles were not new to Indians when M2MN was launched, noodles were sold in the market but consumption was low, very few families consumed it and this category was a commodity; there were no big noodle brands back then.
